Around St Ives & Carbis Bay

St Ives is one of the most popular destinations in Cornwall and it's not hard to see why.

We have safe and beautiful beaches with golden sands, ideal for families. The beaches are monitored by life guards throughout the popular holiday periods.

Being on the North coast of Cornwall, we have some to the finest surfing conditions available in the UK. If you don't feel up to surfing, why not try body-boarding in the surf. It's ideal for children and for grown-ups too.

Dolphins and seals are often seen in the sea close to the town. You can even book a boat-trip to Seal Island to sea the seals in their natural habitat.

Tate St Ives

If you like walking, we are right on the coastal path. In fact it's only a few minutes away from the house.

At the Tregenna Castle Hotel there is a golf course with views over the town, as well as exotic gardens.

St Ives is a town with a thriving artistic community. Not only just painting but sculpture and textile arts can be found in the many galleries and studios here. And of course we have the Tate St Ives right on Porthmeor beach which houses a wide range of art styles.

The Barbara Hepworth Museum in the centre of town is a popular destination for lovers of fine sculpture. Relax in the museum gardens, surrounded by her beautiful work.

For entertainment St Ives has a variety of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants. It has a three screen cinema, a Jazz Club every Tuesday at the Western Hotel and throughout the summer are musical shows from the famous Kidz R Us youth theatre company. Click here for the summer programmes.

Other attractions include the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, Poldark Mine, where you can go underground to experience a little of the life of a tin-miner and of course Lands End the start and end point of so many journeys.

Further afield is the open-air Minack theatre set in the cliffs overlooking Porthcurno beach as well as the Eden Project at Bodelva near St Austell.

For shopping why not visit historic city of Truro, just a short drive or train journey away.

And talking of train journeys, one of the most picturesque journeys is right on your doorstep here. It is the journey from St Erth to St Ives along the coast.
